Volkswagen hold 1-2-3 in Morocco Rally
Written by Richard Williams  |  Wednesday, 26 September 2007
Morocco Rally

The Volkswagen team made a strong start yesterday (Tuesday) to the Morocco Rally, the Race Touaregs of Giniel de Villiers, Carlos Sainz and Carlos Sousa holding first, second and third places after the 245 km opening leg.

South African de Villiers and his German co-driver Dirk von Zitzewitz took a 34-second stage win at the desert oasis of Zagora. ‘It’s a perfect start for us,’ said de Villiers. ‘Our Race Touareg ran like a charm. The stage was quick and twisty, with stony stretches, and it was important not to make any mistakes nor suffer a puncture. We managed to do all that.’

GOLF TDI WINS SILVERSTONE 24 HOURS

A giant-killing Volkswagen Golf TDI has yet again rewritten the form book in the UK’s only 24-hour sports and saloon car race, finishing 13th overall, ahead of some much more powerful opposition, and winning its class for the second year in succession.

Piloted by track veterans Ken Lark, Nick Starkey, Stacey Vickers and Tim Saunders – combined age 206 – the TH Motorsport Golf beat its nearest diesel class rival to the chequered flag at Silverstone yesterday (Sunday) by a 10-lap margin.

Coming soon to UK VAG!
Written by Matt Whiting  |  Monday, 25 June 2007

The site is currently still in the development stage, although the forum is (almost) fully functioning.

The next stages for the site, once all the design, layout and formatting is finalised are to introduce a "Readers Rides" gallery section where members can showcase their pride and joy and have a dedicated page to display stats, mods and your best pics.

We hope to develop a comprehensive technical library with tutorial guides and how-to's for a wide variety of Volkswagen group cars, so the next time you attempt some DIY car maintenance, take some pics and write a description and send them over to help get the Technical library up to speed.

A Downloads section is also in the pipeline, watch this space!

UK VAG hopes to introduce a range of merchandise for members, including stickers (you can never have too many club stickers!), T-shirts, mousemats and whatever else we can think of to print the UK VAG logo on.

Golf W12

The Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 concept is set to make its UK debut at the GTI International show, an independently organised event which will be held over the weekend of 16/17 June at Bruntingthorpe proving ground in Leicestershire. Marking the 30 th anniversary of the GTI’s arrival in the UK, the GTI W12 – the most powerful Golf every produced by Volkswagen – will be seen for the first time since its unveiling at a GTI enthusiast event in Austria last month.

The GTI W12-650 is powered by a bi-turbo W12 engine developing 650 PS – a full 450 PS increase over the standard Golf GTI. Unlike the standard car the W12-powered GTI channels its drive through its rear wheels via a six-speed Tiptronic gearbox.
